Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Clarke promises to send Livingston flour and other provisions that he expects will arrive shortly, but regrets that he does not have any money that he can presently part with. He concludes by promising to pay Livingston for some barley and hops as soon as he is able to. Docketed on address leaf.
