Livingston's nephew James writes inquiring about a friend of his, Thomas Pelsfooed, who had traveled to New York the previous year. As Pelsfooed is a friend, James requests that his uncle enquire about his whereabouts and employ him if possible. Also present is a letter from Barbara Livingston, in which she tells of young Robert's health, and requests that the recipient write on her behalf to a Mr. Hackinshaw, who has refused to pay Barbara any money due to her.
