Barbara writes of life in Scotland, following the death of their brother James. She also writes of the health of young Robert Livingston ("he has only a co[l]d which I hope shall be quickly over") and his enrollment at the Latin School in the town, and her own recent return to Scotland from Holland, with all that return has entailed. On page three is a letter from Barbara's daughter Janet Miller, who writes of young Robert's popularity in Edinburgh ("poepl hier ar very curious to see him and ask him questions about New England") and of the remaining members of the family not spoken of by her mother.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
