Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

.01= "Wol-pi" is an cluster of adobe homes built on top of each other. .02= "Dancers Rock, Wol-pi" shows a flat rock poised atop a tall rock, next to some adobe. Both with label of the USG&G Survey on verso, and names written in calligraphic hand on recto. #.02 has the inscription on verso "A. Bell 665 E. 142nd St." (Showing habitations of Indians of the Southwest.)
