Deming, Mayor of Hartford, Connecticut, transmits a copied letter (included on pages two and three of this document) to Burr, who previously served as Chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee. Informs Burr that he previously sent the letter included to R. H. Winslow, A. G. Hazard, N. Wheeler, James E. English (Connecticut Governor 1867-1869 and 1870-1871), Samuel Colt (inventor of the revolver), and P. C. Calhoun to obtain donations toward a testimonial plate honoring Burr's service as Chairman. Relates that William Hammersley, A. E. Birge, and J. D. Seymour donated money for the testimonial plate, transmitted with this correspondence (not included).
