Informs General Smallwood that Frederick [Egen?], the bearer of this note, has broken his arm and has been discharged by General George Washington. Requests that Smallwood help Egen obtain the certificates he needs regarding pay. Expresses disappointment that he did not see Smallwood during the previous year. Verso contains an apparently unrelated note regarding an order of cider.
