Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A list of the settlers in the town of Frankfort, Maine in 1788. The list contains the names of the "old" settlers who settled under Colonel Goldthwait and the "new" settlers. Date was taken from the docket. Docket notes, "given by Lt Colonel [Benjamin?] Shute, Capt Black and others."
