References a previous letter from Knox. Says Knox can pay his brother's bill on either 16 November or 15 December. Calculated a repayment date of 16 November as he must remit Mr. McConnell money on that date. Reports that Colonel [William Stephens] Smith has not presented Knox's draft to him yet, but when he does, it will be honored. Hopes that Samuel Shaw's brother will arrive this winter; "if he does it will be very advantageous to our speculations and retrieve his loss on the sale of the ship Massachusetts."

[draft]
I received your favor & will make it agreeable to you either to pay your brother bill on the 16th of November or the 15th of December as you find it most conveneint- I calculated it to the 16th of November as I have to remit Mr McConnell money on that day & therefore could have deducted the money here from the sum I have to remit- but if it is more convenient to you in December it will not make much difference to me.

Colo Smith has not as yet presented your draft to me, when he does it shall meet due honor.

I am in great hopes Mr Shaw's brother will not arrive this winter, if he does it will be very advantageous to our speculations and retrieve his loss on the sale of the ship Massachusetts-
