Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

I wish those connections may be strongly cemented and that the two nations may remain in a perpetual alliance strengthened by all possible good offices." Discusses how public opinion has forced alterations in the Society of the Cincinnati. Introduces and recommends Mr. Tracy, the bearer of this letter. Knox addresses Aboville as "General."
