Discusses the rations and clothing given to bargemen in the Army and requests better conditions for them. Pickering explains that the men of the Newburgh packet feel that they should have the same benefits as that of the crew on the commander-in-chief's barge, whose "duty is very light." Pickering suggests he and Knox apply jointly for comparable benefits for the "West Point packet."
