Written in the hand of Samuel Shaw, Knox's aide-de-camp; he has also signed for Knox.
Certifies that Mr. James Giles was employed as a conductor of military stores from December 1776 until September 1778, when he was offered a position in the corps of artillery. Verifies that his pay as conductor was 30 dollars per month until February 1778, when, by a resolve of Congress, it was raised to 40 dollars per month.
