Replies to a letter from Captain Moodie (GLC02437.01107): "I am much pain'd at the disagreeable state of things at Fort Herkimer and sincerely wish it was in my power to remedy these." Refers to an order for thread and paper (possibly used in musket cartridges) requested by Moodie. Adds that Mr. [Brewster] will inform him "of the recruits so long expected from Capt. Mathias." Written at Phillipsburg (present-day Sleepy Hollow, New York).
