At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Suggests collecting payment from Knox's subscribers to Rivington's New-York Gazetteer, since they have had it a year. Requests a list of subscribers to Cook's Voyage, which Rivington was printing. Asks Knox to forward to New York any news Boston receives from England, and comments generally about news dissemination. Rivington was a bookseller, printer, and journalist who came to America in 1760. He published Rivington's New-York Gazetteer.
