At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

States that he believes Ezra L'Hommedieu, a fellow Federalist, is the best candidate for Congress as he will be able to unite the Federalists in the district. Asks Dongan to have a meeting of the most influential Federalists of the county as soon as possible to make a nomination. Letter addressed to Dongan, Staten Island.
