At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Bound in leather (possibly sheepskin) with metal clasp. Notes the payment of wages, and contains the names of officers and companies in the regiment. Includes receipts for the purchase and/or repair of breeches, shoes, coats, shirts, horses, and other items used for military service. One page is detached from the binding. Contains a loose treasurer's order citing an amount of "old Continental Money" inside the back cover. Book is most likely created in Worcester, Massachusetts, but this is not certain.
