At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Certifies that the subscribers have received of Elizabeth Lovett and William Leach from the estate of John Lovett, their share of the prize money from the privateer ship, the Pilgrim on her first cruise with Hugh Hill as captain. Also mentions they have received a sum for the captors shares in the Dalton lands. Subscriber names are not included. John Lovett was a privateer ship merchant and captain in Beverly, Massachusetts. He served as the agent for the Pilgrim's prizes.
