At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

She reports that she is very satisfied with her progress, that she can take two steps. She has attended sermons given by Rev. Patton of New Haven, son of Rev. Patton of Ithaca, and she asks him to look into sending a walking chair from New York City. Letter written at Round Hill.
