A kind letter in which Washington thanks the Marquis for his friendly sentiments. New York's ratification of the Constitution had been uncertain. Docketed on verso of second leaf. Lotbiniere's letter is in LC's Washington Papers. Noted but not published in Fitzpatrick 30:56n.
