Garfield writes to Secretary of the Interior Kirkwood to introduce Dr. Mark Hopkins, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, who "has been appointed by a number of the churches to represent their Indian affairs." He asks that Hopkins be interviewed. He indicates that Hopkins also wants to introduce Kirkwood to "General Alden of Troy, N.Y." Written on White House Stationary.
