Report read by committee chairman Christian at Newport News, Virginia on 28 October 1903. Published by order of the Grand Camp of Virginia. The other committee members include: R.T. Barton, Carter R. Bishop, R.A. Brock, Rev. B.D. Tucker, John W. Daniel, James Mann, R.S.B. Smith, T.H. Edwards, W.H. Hurkamp, John W. Fulton, and Micajah Woods. The report was unanimously adopted and 5,000 copies were ordered to be printed, one of which is this copy. Pamphlet deals with accusations made by North Carolina that Virginia's role in the Civil War was subpar. Takes on various claims made by North Carolina. Says that they do not wish to magnify Virginia's place in the war at the expense of North Carolina, but claims that Virginia had special circumstances that North Carolina did not have to deal with, including the fact that Virginia was a battleground state and that the state was dismembered by Federal armies. Parts of 12 pages deal with controversies at the Battle of Gettysburg. The claims Virginia is making are summed up on page 22, "Virginia makes no boast of the part borne by her in that, the greatest crisis of her history. She only claims that she did her duty to the best of her ability." Last 3 pages deal with history textbooks published for schools.
