Convicted for violation of Section 3893 of the Revised Statutes (possibly in reference to the Comstock Law). While on bond Hicks fled to Europe, where he remained a fugitive until 10 July 1915, when he surrendered to the court. Commuted by Wilson so Hicks sentence would expire at once, no reason given.
