These blocks include; public officials, the Ku Klux Klan, and "white councils." He also outlines the possible solutions and ways that desegregation is being pushed thorough to spite the opposition.

He also discusses Chronicles 7:14, which he used when he took his oath of office and again when he nominated Eisenhower. He adds that Eisenhower also used this verse when he took his oath of office.

It also asks for peace, enlightenment and deliverance from "fretfulness and self-pity."

He discusses Schaffer's need to explain "our existence" beyond the merely scientific. Santayana views looking for such an explanation as absurd. He concludes: "A moral solution arrived at prudently is a help in life, but, it need not be a metaphysical one."
