This is a letter between the two brothers, that discusses a loan that henry had taken from the bank for $50 to buy a horse. he was letting the Senator Bruce know that he had repaid it, and would "write you more fully tomorrow" from the docket it seems that the senator sent his brother the $50 to repay the bank. this must have come in the letter which Henry acknowledges recieving in the first sentence of the letter.

This letter concerns a series and exchange of pictures between Senator Bruce, and Ed Bassett. The main subject is pictures of Bassett's wife and daughter that Bruce had sent to Basset's daughter. There is also a discussion over older pictures of Bruce and his wife. This letter also mentions past correspondence between the two men in which Bruce had made an opinion that "our country will continue to advance in prosperity" There is also mentions of how African Americans should copy the white citizens and blend in with them.

The topic of this letter is a debt held by Levi Taylor, he is asking Senator Bruce if he had paid/purchased the debt, as another party is suing him for the amount of the $70 loan. There is an additional penciled note that mentions that the writer of the pencil note has "forgotten the parties [and] have no data to which to refer" The docket has a summary of the letter that Levi is asking if his $70 dollar note from Lee Charles that is held by the Major has been paid.

A partial Last Will and Testament from the estate of Ransom Lee, It includes a metes and bounds description of real property. This document states that Susan Lee can live on the estate for the rest of her life, when she dies Thomas Lee and his wife Elizabeth Baker get the land. The document itself has been damaged. It has broken into four pieces at the fold lines, and the docket has been separated.

A letter from Thompson asking Senator Bruce for help securing a position as school teacher for himself and his wife in another county since he wants to leave his current placement in De Soto county due to threats of violence, and a pay cut. Thompson is also the Col. of the militia in his county, and as a result is a target for threats and abuse from the Democrats that had recently took power of his county.
