Creator unknown. Title added later in red pen. Date and location of writing in the hand of Henry Knox; same hand also apparently provides edits on page 14. Declares that Mrs. Beaumez, mother of Francis, Thomas and Harriet Flucker and widow of Captain Thomas Flucker, is claiming a portion of the Waldo Patent lands on behalf of her children, who are descendents of Samuel Waldo through their father. Writes that he sent Pickering another letter officially declining the offer of a position on the committee to negotiate the boundary between Maine and Canada. Declares that if they are unable to secure another suitable commissioner, and one is needed this year to begin negotiations, he would find no objection in serving out the year until a new appointee is found. Suggests that Judge [James] Sullivan may be a suitable replacement. Touches briefly on negotiations with England. See GLC02437.06704 and GLC02437.06706 for related information.

Writes to introduce Knox to his friend Mr. Robert Gilmer of Baltimore and his daughter. The Gilmers are traveling to Boston and Bingham hopes they will arrive before Knox leaves Boston to go to Maine. Speaks of the virtues of Mr. Gilmer and hopes Knox will welcome him into his acquaintance.

Title: to Charles Wilkins Lexington

Writes concerning the purchase of horses for the troops. States "in consequence of no person's appearing at Fort Washinton on the part of the Contractors to make provision for the transportation of the flour & for the Army, I had been obliged to take it upon myslef, and had ordered...an Agent, to provide the horses and carriages that would be necessary." Appeares to be a mix-up in ordering horses, so asks Lexington to "suspend your purchases of horses until you hear again." Noted as a copy. Watermarked "Watt & C Patent Copyin[g]." Letterpress copy.

Title: [Agreement between Christopher Gore and William Hay]

Signature, possibly of Christopher Gore, has been clipped. Also signed by William Hay and by John Trumbull as witness. Contract between the American Christopher Gore, living in London, and William Hay, a London gardener. Enumerates the terms of employment for Hay, as Gore's gardener: specifies that Hay will travel to the United States and work on Gore's land under the supervision of a William Payne.

Title: to Thomas and Francis Flucker [incomplete]

Writes a loving letter to her sons, who are in the United States while she is abroad. Mentions making living arrangements and forming a circle of acquaintance in Calcutta. Discusses her love for her sons and tells them to listen to their kind uncle [Henry Knox] who is caring for them. Describes India and her experiences there.

Partially printed. Declares that several financial notes of William Bingham's, which have been endorsed by Knox, are unpaid and due to the Bank of the United States. A handwritten note reports that the notes were attached to a creditor of William Duer's, and that is why they have not been paid.
