Discusses at length his experience raising volunteers in Tennessee at the beginning of the War of 1812 and includes a copy of a 11 July 1811 letter by William Eustice accepting his service and his volunteers. Also discusses his march to Natchez to protect New Orleans, and his sudden dismissal by the War Department.
