Title: [Union surgeon's diary, 10th PA Reserve Vols.]

Autograph manuscript. Reports on the Battle of Gettysburg (fought 1-3 July 1863 near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania). He mentions the replacement of General Joseph Hooker by General George G. Meade. Writes on 28 June 1863, "...heard of a change in the command of the Army. Gen. G. Meade having superseded Genl. Hooker. The first impression was unfavorable but as we were somewhat accustomed to such freaks not much was said on the subject." Mentions the death of General John F.
