The second note verifies that the previous note was the actual handwriting and signature of de la Roche, signed and dated by Louis Osmont Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 17 May 1792. The last note on the verso is a note of receipt from Duplaine for the money, dated Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19 May 1792.

Asks him to send a paperwork for them to sign (regarding an arrangement to settle on Knox's Waldo patent lands), including a translation of the legal documents, as he is "not at all acquainted with your forms of Law." Declares that Mr. Duer will be traveling to Philadelphia and will sign the paperwork soon. Adds that Madame de Leval sends her compliments to him and his wife.

Marked "Copy." In Henry Jackson's hand. Page 1 contains a letter written by Mr. de la Roche and Madame de Leval to Jackson, which was forwarded to Knox. By virtue of the credit given to de la Roche and de Leval of the French Company of the Union by William Duer, any supplies necessary for the settlement, including clothing and provisions, should be purchased. Wants to make sure there are receipts. Verso contains a receipt for $50, 5 shillings, and 6 pence worth of supplies. Receipt created by John B. Regnier, agent.

Receipt for items purchased by Rosalie Josephe Bacler de Leval and Jean-Baptiste de la Roche on behalf of the French Company of the Union. Receipt confirms an agreement the company made on 27 August 1791 with William Duer in New York, and on 3 September 1791 with Henry Knox in Philadelphia; it lists goods and services purchased by the company on Henry Jackson's credit. The total amount of goods and services purchased was £188.2.2. Some of the items include planks, flints, washtubs, bread, and amounts due to various merchants.
