Document contains three letters. The first, dated 22 March 1792, is signed by Phillips, Jarvis and Read. On behalf of the Committee for the Sale of the Eastern Lands belonging to the Commonwealth (presumably of Massachusetts), they agree to sell Jackson and his associate [Royal] Flint lands which lie between borders they outline. Also outline the price and terms of the deal. The second letter, dated 23 March 1792, is from Jackson to the Committee. Articles of agreement between Phillips, Leonard Jarvis and John Read for the state of Massachusetts and Henry Jackson and associates for the sale of two million acres "of unappropriated lands in the Eastern parts of [the] Commonwealth..." There are thirteen articles in all. Noted as a copy in the docket. Appears to be held together with sealing wax. Watermarked "Budgen" and with hunting horn inside a crest with "G R" underneath. Docketed by Jackson, "Copy of Contract July 1 1791-2,0000.00 acres at 10 cents."
