At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Sending various papers to Halpine, which he may print if he wishes. Also wonders why he has stopped receiving copies of the Citizen, Halpine's paper. Written on Stationary of the Executive Office of the Territory of Montana. Written before June 1867, when Meagher died. One bust engraving of Meagher incldued as collateral.
