Title: An Act for defraying sundry Incidental Charges

Appropriations bill signed by New Jersey Governor Livingston and co-signed by Benjamin Van Cleve as Speaker of the Assembly. Lists several persons to be paid or reimbursed. Most of the payments go to members of the Privy Council or the Assembly for attending sessions. There are several payments for the transport of prisoners. Also pays for the room rentals for the council and assembly to meet. Docket says the bill was read three times in both the council and assembly and was passed. Includes a small ribbon in mylar in the folder.

Title: [Signed receipt from William Livingston to Elias Dayton]

Receipt written by Livingston, the future Governor of New Jersey. Countersigned by Dayton as a merchant in New Jersey and future general in Revolutionary War. Dayton was to join the Committee of Safety in New Jersey in December 1774 and Livingston was on the local committee of correspondence. Dayton was paying taxes to Livingston of over 4 pounds from 23 September 1774 to November 1774. Dayton's signed note says he received the above of William Livingston on 8 April 1775. Livingston, writing as the president of the New Jersey council of safety, sends Hayes a "List of disaffected Persons to be apprehended by Maj. Hay[e]s & his party, & to be sent to Morris Gaol [a jail]." The list appears on a separate page and contains the names of forty eight Tories.

Title: An Act to preserve buildings in this State belonging to the United States from being destroyed and for the Punishment of those that shall seize on or injure the same.

Signed by William Livingston as Governor of New Jersey. Countersigned by Josiah Hornblower, Speaker of the New Jersey House of Representatives. Endorsed on verso near docket by Bowes Reed and Maskell Ewing, clerks of the Assembly, stating the document was read three times and has passed the House. Resolution written because of Congressional recommendations of 3 July 1779 asked the various states to preserve buildings owned by the United States.
