Informs Roberts it has been brought to Knox's attention that Roberts has taken possession of land different than Roberts' original location. Letter is not signed but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. Informs Rynier he sold Brigadiers Island, present day Sears Island, Maine, to Rowland Center. Requests Rynier to visit the island and to help John Witherspoon with his immediate removal from the island and to also assist Mr. Center. Mentions if Witherspoon cannot find another arrangement he can use the house formerly occupied by Nathan Griffin for the present time. Also discusses various livestock and other farm items Mr. Center may want.

Writes that lime is being shipped to Robins aboard Captain [Edward] Kelleran's ship, and he hopes that Robins will be able to sell it. Discusses sales possibilities in Boston. Mentions business arrangements with several other individuals, such as David Russell and John Blackman, and also asks Robins to ship him an order of Bohea tea, coffee, and sugar.

Secretary of War Knox has enclosed two bills to Randall, one for $2000 and the other for $2175. Asks Randall to "deface the notes I gave you for five thousand dollars and enclose them to me." States in a postscript that he was promised a note on the bank of New York but was disapproved at the last minute.

Knox is sending Randall two notes -- one for $3,000 and the other for an unknown amount. The notes were drawn by William Duer -- the $3,000 note can be discounted on 15 June while the other bill can be discounted on 7 June. Asks that the $3,000 note be discounted independent of Duer and on Randall's own credit. Randall was of the house of "Shaw and Randall" -- probably a reference to Knox's former aide-de-camp.

States there was a mix up at the bank as a Mr. Delafield had subscribed on the name Thomas Randall, but that the matter was settled in his favor. Will bring the certificates to New York. Docketed by Knox.
