Appoints Henry Knox to be Lieutenant of the Grenadier Company in Boston, Massachusetts. Verso includes an attestation that Knox took the required oaths. A portion of the document has been clipped causing text loss.

Signed as Chief Justice of Massachusetts, with the last paragraph in his hand. Orders to find and arrest Daniel Asten and Francis Douglass as "the Perpetrators of the murder and robbery," against certain Indians. In the document Asten's name is spelled Austin.
