Title: Daily federal union.

The collection contains five 1861 issues with particular attention to war news and minutes of the Georgia Legislature. Many of the same articles appear reprinted in each issue, namely lists of the members of the various standing committees of the state House of Representatives, lists of elected senators and representatives, and instructions for the collection of war taxes, as well as gubernatorial proclamations and information on the Georgia Hospital of Richmond. Subjects include Lord Lyons and the capture of the Confederate commissioners Mason and Slidell, admission of Missouri to the Confederacy, 11 November 1861 proclamation from the governor to the volunteer militia companies of the state. This issue includes minutes of the gubernatorial and senatorial reports, and lists of elected senators, representatives, and war tax collectors. Title: Daily federal union. [Vol. 4, no. 21 (December 1, 1861)]

Subjects include the advancing of General Price, Proclamation by Gov. Brown urging Georgians to fight, Affairs in Pensacola. This issue includes a story on a prisoner of war, Major Vodges, taken at the battle of Santa Rosa Island, and the account of a young soldier's last hour, dying from typhoid fever. Mrs. General Hansell of Marietta, known for her excellent housewifery, submits recipes for tallow candles and corning beef or pork. Papers are extremely frayed and the ink is fading.

Subjects include proclamation by Gov. Brown urging Georgians to fight, Evacuation of Tybee, Our Defenses on Islands. This issue contains fragments of local war news stories, including information about the Richmond Dispatch, a report of the burial of a local war casualty, a report on island defense tactics, and an editorial criticizing the governor's lack of action to protect the coasts against attack.

Gen. Bragg's congratulatory order. This issue reports the results of the electoral college electing Jefferson Davis and Alexander H. Stephens as president and vice president of the Confederacy. Various reports describe the state of war events at Pensacola, Paducha, Bowling Green, and Missouri. The issue contains a report from the Richmond Dispatch with the details of Colonel M. Cogswell, a prisoner of war. An article from the Knoxville Register describes the necessity of preparing for a feared Southern blockade by buying a crop of hogs, and another article describes the fear of a Mississippi…

Proclamation by Joseph E. Brown. The capture of Montgomery and the surrounding of Siegel occupy the front page of this issue. Separate reports from Tennessee, Pensacola, and the Mississippi River detail war events. The Ladies Relief Society of Eatonton and Putnam County publish a statistical account of all their recent work, namely coats, shirts, pants, and socks made and sent to various locations. News from Europe is also included. Document has several watermarks and the ink is fading.
