Title: to Francis Lord Howard of Effingham re: attacks by the Senecas

Baron explains that the Senecas are stationed at the head of the James River, and have attacked some neighboring English and Indian settlements, where they plundered houses and carried off Indians. He then informs Lord Effingham that in order to secure the surrounding counties, the Council granted them commissions to build up their militias, which he hopes meets with the Lord's approval. Docketed on address leaf.
