Shaw, Samuel, 1754-1794
Autograph letter signed
Title: to Daniel Parker
Discusses an incident with Parker where the owners of the ship that Shaw took to China refused to pay him his "consideration for transacting her business, upwards of three thousand dollars, but that they also instituted an account against us for 2300 dollars, appropriated by you from their funds committed to us - " Writes that "On this amount 3184 dollars, they charged a cent damages, making the whole six thousand (6368) three hundred sixty eight dollars, and instead of paying us our balance, passed it to the credit of this account, and sued us at law for the remainder."
