He has given General Henry Jackson Hunt, Governor of the Soldier's Home in Washington, D.C., an introduction card. He hopes Warden will receive Hunt when he visits. He inquires as to a literary project undertaken by Warden. Discusses longevity rations for retired officers, and other military retirement issues. A year earlier Porter had been reinstated in the army, and then he retired.
