Describes a town meeting about whether to support Ely. Relates how different towns in the region plan to handle Ely's claims that the residents own the towns and Knox does not. Includes a transcript of a resolution from Davistown (possibly present day Liberty, Maine).

Declares that if they are unable to secure another suitable commissioner, and one is needed this year to begin negotiations, he would find no objection in serving out the year until a new appointee is found.
