James Duane describes how he is overwhelmed with his business at the moment, and airs some frustrations regarding New York's political situation:"Timidity has induced the Colony to make a most unreasonable sacrifice to the Massachusett's bay. I fear these people will spread over the whole continent and however pleased they may be with themselves, they will not mind the political or relijious principls-if Candour and Truth are Religious principles-." He notes, however, that he must be patient and "stick to my Law."

Davis states that Robert, Jr.'s attorney treats him in a most unfriendly manner and wishes to imprison him for reasons that remain unknown to Davis. He then discusses his most critical financial state, which has kept him in and out of prison, and has hurt his family as well. Taking this crisis into consideration, Davis asks Robert, Jr. to allow him more time to pay his debt, and claims that imprisonment would only remove him from his work and further impede payment of his debts. Elliott apologizes profusely for leaving his job at Ancram so abruptly, and is afraid that he has deeply offended Robert, Jr. He explains, however, that he was led to believe that Robert, Jr. was tired of him, so he took it upon himself to move at the first available opportunity. Since he has left the Manor, Elliott says that his life has gone completely "dormant," as he does not know where to begin his business. He concludes by expressing a desire to return to his job at the Manor, if Robert, Jr. will permit it. Docketed on verso.

The letter is signed by John R. Bleecker, Jacob Cuyler, and Cornelius Glen. The men write that a final division of the lands, creeks, etc. of Saratoga has been made, and they have found that they have no right to any part of the creek. They then ask Robert, Jr. to join them in building a mill on their lands that are to the south of the creek.
