Expresses great concern for both of their livelihood, as he believes that "we are all in danger at home and a broad..." Tells her how much it excites him to think of coming home some day, and notes that he has not drank liquor or played cards. Letter most likely sent from Folly Island, South Carolina, based on location of other letters around this date.

Remarks that he hopes the Adjutant "will report the truth for we have done nothing to put down the rebellion since we came out here but guard oficers and march our selfs to death for the division hasent seen nor smelt a battle since they been out for the oficers dont want to do eny thing like fighting if they can help it for they are geting big pay and are waited on like gentlemen and that they cant have when they get home..." The unit had been "on command at Dobbs Ferry." A total of four rations were issued. Docket is signed by a James Gibson stating that the rations were delivered by contractors.
