A "Good Luck" chain letter. The letter stipulates that it and four other copies must be sent out, or the the receiver of the letter will have bad luck. It reads, "The one who breaks this chain will have bad luck. Don't keep this letter. It must be in the mail 24 hrs. after receiving it." Written at Camp Adair.

Augsberger mentions Gene Autry, a singer that he and Ardena are both fond of. He also says that he had Ardena's name tattooed onto his arm. The tattoo reads "My Darling Wife Ardena Mae." He asks Ardena to send him a picture of her if she has had one taken recently. Augsberger tells Ardena that he will speak to the Captain tomorrow and ask for a transfer into the Air Corps. He signs the letter as "Your Loveing Husband Richard." On the back of the envelope it reads "S.W.A.K." Written at Camp Adair.

He lets Ardena know he misses her very much and longs to hold her in his arms again. He asks that she tell her mom and dad that he says hello, and sends her his love. Written at Camp Adair.

Just let one of the XO*!? get in my way and may God help him and forgive me."

If he does, I think I will get shot in the heart and maybe I will get a honorable discharge to." He sends his love and asks Ardena to tell her Mom, Dad, and the children he says hello.
