Augsberger tells Ardena that he is on guard today so he has time to write. He expresses his concern for her because he has not received a letter from her for a while now. He writes of his love for her. "Ardena my Darling I do love you so much. And you can bet your life on it. When I say I will fight hard. Just let one of the XO*!? get in my way and may God help him and forgive me."
