This collection contains 1710 letters between Sylvia Greenfield Weiner, her husband Morris "Moe" Weiner, and Alvin Greenfield, her brother. Moe Weiner served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps from February 26, 1943-1946. Moe had attended Brooklyn College and was a Customs inspector in the Port of New York, a specialist in Asian textiles. Moe underwent training at Fort Lewis, WA, among other sites and then was posted to England, where he served from 1944 until his discharge in 1946. "We have no news here all is uneasy as to the results of the coming Contest..." Higdon was an officer in the same company as Miller A. Wright. John informs Miller of the latest news of the regiment. Three men were caught trying to desert, and he is trying to get his troops ordered back to Georgia. He expresses frustration with Virginia, and Jackson's army. "I am heartily tired of this State service...I am willing to go anywhere so that we leave Jackson's Army, and Virginia...." Mentions another two men arrested and states "I would not be surprised if they were not shot."

Haas spoken with "the Secretary" (of War?) re transferring Miller's company and having it armed with artillery. Whether the democrats will offer us terms or not is yet doubtful - if they do it will be time enough then to attend to it."

Comments his new clothes are making him sick; he has a headache. Request he sends him a newspaper and a day book. The letter has a watermark on the top left hand corner. Writes to his sister. Complains about having to wash his clothes in cold water. Comments he does not care how he looks or what he wears; however, she would find him dirty and ragged. Describes being sick with a bad case of dysentery. Notes he has cured it with cheese ginger snaps and brandy. Reports he was within 30 rods of the rebels line this morning. Writes they trade tobacco and coffee with each other and they all bathe in the same creek. Believes the two sides struck a deal not to fire at each other. Requests she writes him with all the news.
