Begins letter to his wife and children by expressing great sadness that he has not received any letters from them. "I begin to think that you have withdrawn from me because I have been in the guardhouse..." Continues on with his complaints about how soldiers are treated by the officers. Tells her about a soldier who was injured and "the doctors wont excuse him from duty and I said that I would like to shoot them..." Mentions his desire to shoot the officers again later in letter. Writes them "to day is mail day again and if I dont get a letter from you this time, I hate to make rash promises…
