Title: to M. A. Wright re: possibility of appointing southerners to Benjamin Harrison's cabinet
On Senate stationery. Senator Sherman does not feel at liberty "to advise Gen Harrison as to his cabinet," but hopes he will include some Southerners. John Sherman (1823-1900), William Tecumseh's brother was a prominent US Senator from Ohio (1861-1877). He also served as Secretary of the Treasury (1877-1881) and Secretary of State (1890-1898).
