Writes, "we get all the Papers here, and had a full Report of the dedication ceremonies," referring to the Dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery 19 November 1863 (where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address).

Commends General George Meade's decision to retreat. Hopes to be discharged within six months, and says he would not reenlist for "Old Abes salary and three times the amount..." Written in pencil.
