Title: [Minutes for Creek Treaty]

Draft of a treaty between the United States and the Creek nation stipulating that Creek Chief Alexander McGillivray would be the liaison with the "rank of Brigadier General." The "great medal chiefs" will also be granted a commission and two agents, one in the upper and one in the lower Creeks, will be assigned to "assist in the attempt to civilize the indians..." The United States will also furnish the Creeks with domestic animals and tools. Continues to list points regarding the treaty. Date listed in pencil at a later date.

Insists they have always been deferential to Congress concerning this matter.

Written by General Jackson to Secretary of War Knox. Says he is enclosing a copy of the correspondence he had with the committee on the sale of the eastern lands (not included). Says the committee declined to sell him 2 million acres. The committee then asked the legislature for advice on how to proceed. Jackson says that "my every exertion was brought to a focus, and by good management the Court have directed the Committee to treat with me for the quantity I have applied for, and in the morng I shall receive their proposals."
