Captain Winn, of Company G in the 58th Pennsylvania Infantry, commanded the skirmish line at the battle of Gum Swamp. Date inferred from the date of the skirmish, 22 May 1863.

Snyder was the Pennsylvania governor.

This diplomatic letter deals with the messy entanglements and complications of territorial land issues between the United States and Spain in Florida.
