Tony does mention writing to "Kitty, Czerwonka and Wiefels."

Has attempted to contact a mutual friend, Nancy Zeomeks but she wouldn't reply to his letters. Excited that there is a club that serves alcohol to 18 year olds. Describes military life in Hawaii composed of hiking, building rope bridges and using rubber boats.

We have no idea of how long we will be in Viet Nam. I don't really care how long we're there just so I get to see Chicago again."

There are also mentions of the anniversary of President Washington's Birthday, and the text of the proclamation given by President Lincoln to celebrate Washington's birth. (see GLC06038) An article on the fourth page laments the death of Willie Lincoln. On the last page of the newspaper there is an article concerning Nathaniel Gordon's accused crime of international slave trade and his execution.
