Title: to Samuel Hugg
Written and signed for Knox in the hand of Samuel Shaw, Knox's aide-de-camp. In response to Hugg's last letter, Knox sends a certificate of the money Hugg received from the recruiting service in 1777, based on Knox's recruiting accounts. He cannot include a certificate declaring the number of men Hugg enlisted because all of Hugg's receipts were submitted along with the accounts at the time. Also includes a certificate for the money advanced to Captain Lieutenant Joseph Dayton for his recruiting services.
