Partially printed document signed by Colonel Goldthwait, who was the commanding officer at Fort Pownall in Maine, and countersigned by his future son-in-law, Francis Archbald, Jr., the clerk at Fort Pownall. Certifies Nathan Pendleton of the sloop Seaflower, clearance to the custom's house of Penobscot Port. Specifies that the sloop was bound for New London, Connecticut, and that there were thirty thousand pine boards and fifteen thousand shingles on board.
